#7: Never assume that it's over. Make them force you to believe it's over. .
I'm sharing this advice today in honor of the @muaythaischool_usa team in Iowa right now prepping for a weekend full of violence and good times! Make your opponents work for it, y'all!! Chok dee!! .
Assumptions are a fact of life. There are certain facts we have to assume in order to move through the world without agonizing over every little step we take. But making assumptions can become a habit. And when you're working toward a goal, the last thing you want is to fall into a thought pattern that limits your potential. .
Whether you're facing an opponent in the ring, or asking for a raise at work, or searching for the perfect pair of shoes to wear with your wedding dress, you have to actively guard yourself against the assumption that "it's over". BE STUBBORN. Don't stop fighting - make your opponent force you to stop fighting. When someone shuts you down with a statement, ask another question. How badly do you want the thing you're fighting for? If you want it badly enough, you'll push back until you're forced to stand down. .
You don't have to want things that badly. Personally, I'm a pretty passive person - there's not much I would fight that hard for. But you'd better believe that when I do decide to fight for something, whoever's standing across from me better be ready force me into submission. Because I'm never assuming that it's over. .
This is 'Life Advice By MB' --- .
I turn thirty this year, which means I'm now officially an adult and fully qualified to tell others how to live their lives. So, I've written up 100 pieces of advice - some spiritual, some practical, some silly - that I'll be posting every few days until my birthday in December. These are meant to be conversation starters, so if you have thoughts on anything I post, I'd love to hear them! .
